Description

Bob Knowlton decides to resign from his job a place that once made him feel a deep sense of pleasure up until Simon Fester came along. Dealing with personal insecurities and lack of communication Knowlton becomes the result in the hard hit photon laboratory has incurred. Jerrold becomes disturbed at the manner in which Knowlton handled his resignation and decides not me communicate with Knowlton.

Diagnosis

Knowlton has been a top producer for Jerold since his employment began; he takes pride in his work and stays late to ensure he is an effective contribution to the organization. The problem in this situation is not Knowlton nor is Fester rather the problem with Jerrold. As a manager he should have recognized that their maybe a conflict in interest when combining the two work ethics. Jerrold was too caught up on the “excitement” that Fester brought while ignoring the good relationship he has with Knowlton and the other employees.

Theory

Many theories can apply to the Bob Knowlton case but the one that I like most is the Personality Theory. Prescription

Short-term: Jerold could communicate with his managers more often especially when he is opting to bring additional members aboard. A lot of the emotions Knowlton was experiencing were due to the lack of information he received from Jerold as well as the feeling of not being able to communicate with his manager. Jerold has to also become more welcoming and ask for the opinions of other’s, which Knowlton did when he took it upon his self to speak with Oliver and Davenport.

Long-term: Jerold should take...
