U.S. President not Elected by the American People

The 38th President of the United States was never elected to the Presidency or Vice Presidency by the people of America. The 38th President was born Leslie Lynch King, Jr. at birth but later called Gerald R. Ford Jr. when his mother Dorothy Gardner married Gerald R. Ford (Francis, 2002). As a child growing up, his family and playing sports in school influenced his developmental growth throughout his life. He served four years in the Navy during WWII as a Navy Officer. After returning home from the Navy, he ran for the Republican Party in his state and won the election. As the Minority Leader in Congress, he was chosen as the Vice President of the United States when Vice President Agnew resigned. After becoming Vice President, nine months later he took over the Presidency when President Nixon resigned his position in office.

Early Childhood of the 38th President On July 14, 1913, Leslie L. King Jr. was born to Dorothy Gardner. Soon after he was born, his mother gathered her belongings and moved in with her parents in Grand Rapids, Michigan because her husband was abusive. She divorced from her husband Leslie King and met a fellow by the name Gerald R. Ford who she married. Leslie L. King Jr. would soon be called Gerald Rutherford Ford Jr; named after his stepfather. Although a young lad, Gerald was a typical boy. Gerald had a temper as a child and would get himself into trouble often as most children did.
