First I would like to start out with a bit of background information on Skype about what it is and how it got started. Skype is a software application that can let users make free voice and video calls between each other as well as use text chatting sessions. Skype is supported across Microsoft, Mac and Linux operating systems and is free to use for computer to computer calls, but uses a debit system for calls made to landlines and cellular numbers. For what it is and how it works, it is actually a very great and convenient service. While my brother in-law was stationed in Japan for the Marines, his family would communicate with him constantly with Skype.

As I was already a subscriber to Skype, logging in was not an issue for me. After logging in with my Skype name, which is chris.dranschak, I was curious how I was going to complete this lab. A few days after the class started, Skype user names started rolling in from all of my other classmates. I started accepting user requests as well as sending them out until I had a good number added to my list of other users. The first thing I thought I would do is start a chat session with another classmate to possibly setup a conference later in the week. After reaching out to a few people I was able to get a chat session started with Dennis D’Allessandro. We chatted a while and setup a talk to make a call to each other a decided that it wasn’t a conference call but this put us one step ahead of the field. The chat session works well, and makes it a fast and easy way to communicate without having to do a video chat. That evening we were able to start a video chat and mapped out a plan to get our lab completed. We would send out invitations to other students to setup a time the following day to finish our conference call.

The following day after I returned home from work I immediately logged into Skype and got a chat message from Dennis letting me know that he was starting a conference call with a few other students. He...
