Running Head: WEEK ONE SUMMARY

Week One Summary

Brandon Spitzack

University of Phoenix

Being the first week of class there is a natural learning curve and acclamation to all of the requirements that in instructor sets forth. This week, I had a challenge really getting up to speed, much more than I had in previous classes because the requirements were not what I was used to. I suppose I had become accustomed to just getting by, answering the discussion questions and moving on but this class has a whole different set of requirements that took me a while to understand and get used to. Honestly for the longest time I could not even figure out where the discussion questions were and actually gave up and moved on, only to later find them when I read the week one lecture. The other thing that caught me off guard was the fact that I had to submit a text file to say that I understood what was in the syllabus. I did not read that I had to do this in the syllabus and actually had no idea about it until I read someone’s question about it in the questions forum. I would say that this first week has been quite difficult for me overall, mainly as I get used to what I need to do and what is going on in this class. I think that the following weeks will get progressively easier as I move on and become more accustomed to the requirements.

As far as learning has gone, I have already found myself learning new things like the concept of elasticity and the details of supply, demand and price, which I all find quite interesting. There is a lot of information to take in but it is intriguing which makes it easier to learn because I am interested and can apply my own previous understanding to what is being read. There is a lot of reading but that is to be expected with an online course and I look forward to the concepts that we are going to be covering in the weeks to come.
