People express moods when they feel happy, satisfied, disappointed and so on; these moods can be classified into positive and negative ones. In addition, personality and special situation also have a great effect on moods. At work place, workers’ performance can be affected by their moods, which can change continuously. According to Chapter two, people who have positive personalities usually show positive mood when they are working. Employees in a positive mood are willing to help assist people around them. For example, salespeople in a positive mood are more likely to provide better service for their customers than people in a negative mood do. In contrast, most people who have negative personalities express negative moods at their work place. These people’s performance will be affected by their negative moods because they feel exhausted and stressful when performing their jobs.

Work mood plays an important role in organization behavior. Organization and managers can provide a harmony and interesting environment for employees in order to decrease negative moods. Emotion is more intense than mood; it is shown at the moment when people feel it. Furthermore, employees should control their emotion and mood while working, which is so called emotional labor. There are two rules of emotional labor, feeling and expression rules. Feeling rules mean people should show appropriate emotion in a specific situation. For instance, a wedding planner needs to express happiness to their customers and guests. As to expression rules, people have to understand how to perform their emotion in an appropriate level. Take professors for an example, they can show excitation from their facial expression, but it will not be appropriate if they shout in class.

In conclusion, there is a close relationship among work values, attitudes, moods and emotions. For instance, a person feels satisfied when he or she thinks the job is worth. Furthermore, when people feel the job is worth working...
