The Moral of Animals

Animal Farm, written by George Orwell is a book based on the Russian Revolution in which he uses form of a fable to tell the story. In this fable, the animals believed that they were being mistreated by the humans. Old Major set up a meeting so he could give a speech about the dream that he had. After Old Major died, the animals had a rebellion, when Mr. Jones forgot to feed them and after remembering Old Major’s speech about animalism they eventually caused the humans to run off the farm. Snowball and Napoleon always had differences of opinions because Snowball wanted to live by Old Major’s dream but Napoleon had evil on his mind. Eventually, Napoleon had Snowball chased of the farm by the dogs. When the pigs took over, the other animals started to realize that things were not any better for them. Orwell conveys some moral lessons to the readers of Animal Farm and is still a relevant novel for us to study today.

Orwell conveys Old Major as an animal with good morals that has dreams of all animals being equal. All of the animals listen to Old Major’s speech and want to follow that dream after Old Major dies. Mr. Jones, the owner of the farm gets drunk and forgets to feed the animals. They all break into the feed storage and start to eat the food. Mr. Jones hears the noise and goes out to investigate. The animals turn on him, and he gets chased off the farm. Snowball decided to write the commandments as Old Major stated in his speech. Snowball wanted everything as Old Major had wanted it.

Snowball, is a pig with moral values. He believed in Old Major’s dream, so he tried to get the other animals to live by it. He wrote the commandments for all animals to read as a reminder that all animals are equal. He has all the animals sing “The Beasts of England” after the Sunday meetings.
