INTRODUCTION
In section A of this assignment, an approach to the process of appointing a suitable candidate for the position as an accountant will be discussed. As part of this discussion the five core competencies that a suitable candidate should possess, will be highlighted and explained. Furthermore, the role of situational, personality and interest measures in this process will be explained.
Section B of this assignment is a practical exercise in which a recommendation will be given on the grounds of a case study as was provided in the assignment letter.

INTRODUCTION
As the scenario is sketched in the assignment, the process on appointing an accountant should be discussed. In my past experiences I have not encountered a situation in which I could familiarize myself with die job description of an accountant, I therefore took it upon myself to search the world wide web to find a description as such. Here on forth my explanation will be bases on this job description.
THE PROCESS OF APPOINTING A SUITABLE CANDIDATE FOR THE POSITION OF ACCOUNTANT
1. Prepare a job description
The first step in this process is to prepare a job description to determine a suitable candidate for the position. According to the authors of best-job-interview.com (2012) the job description for a junior accountant is as follows:
• prepare journal entries
• general ledger operations
• monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial statements
• reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts
• draw up monthly financial reports
• prepare analysis of accounts as requested
• assist with yearend closings
• administer accounts receivable and accounts payable
• prepare tax computations and returns
• assist in preparing budgets and forecasts
