Danny Cox the author of the book was a pilot of the United States Air Force; He was part of a high performance team for ten years before leaving the air force and entering the corporate world. Though he had to make tremendous adjustments, his drive to be a part of a high performance team again was strong so he sought advices from the most successful people he could find in various industries. What he had learned from them plus some innovation from himself made his team increase production by 800%, made their morale soar and turnover dropped to zero and he shared how he did it in 34 lessons in high performance management. The first on is use problems to enhance your career. Having problems in the way you manage is something that must not lower your morale instead be it something that would enhance your performance because in problems you’ll know what’s wrong, you’ll get to evaluate your own performance and most especially you get to correct and learn from your mistakes. Next is lift your limitations, Never say this is my limitation always strive to beat whatever record you have made today, the next day, next week or next month. As a manager it is your job to lead the people, work through people to achieve organizational goals, motivate your team and break through barriers together. As the manager you must also monitor them constantly, keep them focused so that no time is wasted; strive to achieve both effectiveness and efficiency.
