Business Ethics

“Business ethics is a form of applied ethics that scrutinizes ethical principles and moral or ethical problems that occur in a business environment. In the more conscientious marketplaces of the 21st century, the demand for more ethical business processes and actions (referred to as ethicism) is mounting. Also, pressures for the application of business ethics are being exerted through enactment of new public initiatives and laws.”

Business Ethics are the basic values in which company does it day to day operations. Good business practices always involve a thorough training program. With a really superior training program a company can instill it values on its employees who will instill what the company expects from it employees and how the employees should treat the customers whether it is internal customers or external customers. Why do we have some of the ethical problems? Some of them are do to the cultural background that you where raised in. Having a diverse work force has many great benefits. However there are a few speed bumps that a company should make sure that they clear away very quickly. The best way a company can prevent these ethical problems is by training.

Training Programs will also inform an employee of what steps they should take if they feel that an ethical line has been crossed. This will also help to prevent employees from crossing a line they shouldn’t. Some of the biggest ethical problems a business has even today are race, language, gender, sexuality, and hazing. Yes, hazing. You do not really see this ethical problem but it can become one very quickly. Most of the time hazing is seen in the services side of business such as fire departments, police and the military. Some feel that it is a right of passage but rapidly gets out of hand. A major incident is the 1991 Tailhook conference. There were 84 victims; both male and female who were physically and/or sexually assaulted. The victims were not just...
