Job Definitions

RSR: A route sales representative has a specific route ran everyday that contains certain customers in the area. It is the job of the RSR to order the appropriate products for each customer and deliver them on time. Some RSRs are considered real time, which means they pick their own product from the warehouse. However, some are bulk drivers, which means the warehouse employees pick their product and load them onto the trucks.

ZA: Zone Administrator responsibilities include all of the day-to-day paperwork and procedures. Some of their duties are the following: payroll, human resource roles, and hiring processes.

DOT: Since the DOT tasks only deal with RSRs, there is not a specific position that deals solely on DOT processes. These duties are usually split between the two ZAs and consist of license renewal, MVR updates, etc.

MMU: The mobile mechanic unit normally consists of one or two employees who travel throughout a district maintaining the vehicles. Whenever a truck has maintenance issues, it is the MMU’s responsibility to make sure they are resolved so that the truck can be used as soon as possible.

CSR: A customer service representative is only used in large distribution centers. Their only roles involve communication with the RSR drivers. For this reason, in smaller DCs these tasks are secondary duties handled by an associate with a different title. These duties include one-on-one with the RSRs, inventory control, and creating trips.

ZBM: Zone Business Managers help coordinate the sales department. If there is a problem with an RSR and the DSL cannot handle it, they will contact the ZBM. This role also places orders to the manufacturing plants in order to maintain the warehouse inventory.
