I will be doing my research paper on the No Child Left Behind Act. First I will talk about why the policy was put into action and what purposes it has. For example it was started to give children a fair and equal opportunity at a good education. They wanted children at the minimum to be able to score well enough on the State Academic achievement standards. President George W. Bush was the one who proposed and signed off on this policy idea.

My next task would be to go into detail about how they planned on using this policy to make the improvements needed. One of the ways to get this done would be to put reading first. They would put emphasis on reading in the early grades as well as having a reading program. With this program states could receive funds to help with reading methods in pre-schools and head start centers. With this policy there is also going to be rewards and consequences. A few examples include Rewarding for Closing the Achievement Gap, Accountability Bonus for States and Consequences for Failure.

The next objective would be to discuss whether or not No Child Left Behind is working or is it a failure? Reading though some websites and articles it looks like opinions go both ways, so that must be talked about. A Time Magazine article I have found goes on about a list of revisions the policy could possibly make, because they feel the policy needs fixing. I will definitely need to go into details for the reader about these revisions.

There are also those who feel as though the program has had some success. New York Times newspaper wrote an article about research done showing that some of things done in the policy have shown success. However, it then goes on to say it has some problems. As the reader can see going into detail about this policy must be done. Lastly in regards to success or failure I will provide information on if this policy will actually be renewed.
