HBH Insocio

“To be cultured is better than to be well- educated.” - Alfonso Dangat.

When my professor told this to the class, it automatically got stuck in my head. It was the perfect saying for students who don’t actually excell in studies. Just like me. Not that studying is not important, but because being educated in a proper standing is far more respectable. I’ve learned through insocio that, what’s on paper doesn’t matter. It’s the intangibles that basically gets its way in life. We are not defined by what we’ve achieved but by the way we do things to earn that specific achievment. Insocio has taught me to value culture, because it is necessary in life. Culture is a part of us. It is a part of our being.

My professor taught us many things, from simple to complex stuff. All of them being laughable for us to enjoy learning. But even though he seems odd and silly most of the time, he is quite witty and smart. And I salute him for that because of the fact that even though he graduated from the province he never backed out on the people who were more well-educated than he is. He never chickened out because for him, culture is far more important than being well-educated.

Lastly, of all the things that Mr. Dangat taught us. The one thing that he didn’t mention but is loudly present in all his teachings is the one that struck me most. He taught us to enjoy studying. Studying is the key to succes they say, but it is also hard to achieve these days. Studying has become a luxury; back then it was a necessity. We are one of the few lucky students to be enrolled in a prestigious school like CSB. We tend to forget how lucky we are to have this kind of opportunity to better ourselves. Many of our countrymen haven’t even tasted education, and here we are sleeping in class just to say that we attended. Mr. Dangat helped me learn to value education and that with proper education comes success.
