Cloning Technology

What is cloning? Cloning is the creation of an organism that is an exact genetic copy of another. This means that every single bit of DNA is exactly the same between the two. You may think that cloning isnt something you'd like to know about but it is. It's fascinating. In this essay I'll be telling you about Cloning Technology, the history of cloning and the pros and cons of Cloning Technology.

Cloning Technology was developed in 1885 by professer August Weismann, a professer in zoology and comparative anatomy, when he theorized that the genetic information of a cell would diminish as the cell would go through differentiation. From 1888-1901 scientists Wilhelm Roux, Hans Dreish and Hans Spemann all tested theroies on splitting embryos and their developments. In 1927, Herman Muller, discovered that x-rays could change and destroy genes. In 1944, Avery, Mcleo and McCarty discovered that genetic information is written in DNA. By 1953, James Watson duplicated genetic information in DNA. And in 1978, baby Louise was claimed to be the first child born through in vitro fertilization.

Cloning Technology is the creation of an organism that is an exact genetic copy of another. Cloning is mainly done with a technique called Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer. The procedure is done by taking a gene from the animal or human and putting that gene with another animal or human organism. Cloning was developed as a way to help those suffering from terminal illnesses such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease and for those with damaged for diseased organs. Cloning humans? Yes, cloning can be used on humans. The prospect of cloning is highly controversial and raises a number of ethical, legal and social challenges that need to be considered. Why would anyone want to clone a human? Some reasons includes; to help infertile couples have children and to replace a diseased child.

There are many pros and cons of cloning, here are...
