DQ 1

In my profession communication is the answer, working in the medical field you need those skills to be effective.  I would teach new employees to make sure they use good communication to co workers and patients. I would give them some back ground on the work environment and how people there operate.  For example during this meeting, we do things this way.  I would advise them to be blunt honest and upfront, if they are not proficient in what they do, I would ask them to be forthcoming about it so that fellow coworkers don't get the wrong impression.  When sending e-mails or in meeting the biggest communication tip I could give them is to take notes, actively listen and always follow up.

    The most effective way to communicate with my boss is face to face.  In my job this is not necessarily the easiest way, because we operate in what is called a "Chain of Command" and normally you don't just go strait to the boss.  If I had a hard pressing issue I would talk to my first line supervisor, and then if he couldn't help me we go to the next soldier.  Honestly I fill this is an effective channel because to often in my job we don't handle issues a the lowest level keeping free time for the boss open.

Great communicators seem to have a few things in common. First they always seem to know what to say and more importantly how to say it. Getting your message accross to different types of people can be difficult. Being able to read they non verbal response from the receiver of the message and adjusting the message can be a big step towards be a great communicator. Secondly, the great communicators I know all are really goo at listening to some and knowing what they are saying. In sales we learn that the key to communication is listening to the customer to hear what they need. Finally, they all seem to be able to speak under any conditions.
