World Hunger

What it is

This has been the most talked about world probles only rivaled by HIV and Aids. Its presence felt even in some of world’s most industrialized countries. Billions of dollars have been dedicated to eradicate its menace all with little or no effect in some of the most hunger ravaged parts of the earth. It has left a trail of death and devastation on its path, this been most felt in third world countries who either have been left to its mercy or look up to other wealthier countries to come to their aid. Initiatives by the United Nations have seen organizations created to curb the problem, deployment of personnel to assist in food distribution and educating of the locals on how to improve on food security.

Statistics

Facts on the number of people in the world who are undernourished can only be estimated. This figure only goes one way every year and that is up. The cause of the increase can only said to be fuelled by several issues one been the fact that some governments have failed to put into place mechanisms to protect their people from the claws of this monstrosity. In this statistics Africa leads the rest with malnutrition levels been the highest in comparison to the other continents. It is widely believed that this is mostly attributed to bad governance and neglect by respective governments. This fact is strengthened by the sheer number of dictators who have held the realms of power in the continent.

Causes

There are several causes of world hunger at present day some avoidable others are just Mother Nature unleashing her fury on us.

Lack of Governments embracing proper agricultural methods

Technology has made it easier to us all to be able manage and control malnutrition levels in our societies. This however has not been a chance in most countries battling food insecurity in the world.
