Mark Twain

Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known as Mark Twain was born on November 30, 1835. Mark Twain was an author and a public speaker. Mark Twain, a well known author of many sorts is sometimes applauded and then criticized for the work he was known so well for doing. Authors today could only dream of composing and being recognized for the caliber of work Mark Twain produced. People speak of how well all his work was presented throughout his lifetime which shows that he’s still very popular. Mark Twain is a staple author in history and his works are still alive today.

Mark Twain’s is most recognized for his novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer published in 1876 and the sequel to that novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn published in 1855. The novels were based on Twain’s life growing up in Missouri. Twain was to be portrayed as the role of Tom, in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Audiences were engaged in Twain’s work and were hungry for more. Mark Twain was harshly criticized for the portrayal of American humor. The novel was criticized for the language and grammar usage that was presented. These novels have been noted as the most prominent work Twain had written, a major accomplishment. Critics also thought that the novels had possibly left out details of his life or had other sources as inspiration in creating the story. Those that have visited the home of Mark Twain have said to noticed some underlying factors of his life that were in fact not presented. Another thing that was interesting was when critics tried to understand his political and government views. Most didn’t understand how he could be so much against the government and still try and reach out tp people of every class. Mark Twain was born to very liberal parents, but that didn’t mean that he had to believe in those same things and that showed within his work.
