10 years ago this week I graduated from university full of hopes and dreams. Who would have thought that 10 years after I would have lived them and experience so much more.

The 10 years was like riding a roller coaster-picking my career, parents separating, studying abroad, building a business from nothing, friendships lost, found, reignited. Ah yes and falling in love.

So in the last 10 years what have I learned?

That forgiveness is key to growth, that love is quite powerful, that we can choose to do what is right in spite of how difficult circumstances can be, that a clear conscience is so important and that the truth has a way of coming out. It’s true that no prayer ever goes unanswered and our biggest enemy is ourselves and patience is indeed a virtue.

Youth is a wonderful thing but is finite. And I thank God that while I may not be as fit as I was 10 years ago I have the wisdom and experience to guide me through the toughest moments and yes the opposite of any crisis is opportunity.

10 years ago I was approaching the quarter life nervous but full of energy to face the unknown. Yes I have made all my mistakes but it’s true that you indeed rise above ALL of them. I have learned to trust in the kindness of people, that not all good deeds will be noticed. Silence is golden but one must never be afraid to speak his or her mind.

And while many get on the wheels of life chasing the fame, there are things bigger than power or money and that is legacy. And after losing some friends and loved ones along the way you realize that life is not just about fun or getting rich, it’s about making a difference and that you can give so much without having to be rich.

I made my first film pitch with USD 200.00. But the impact my work has done I would say is priceless. It’s true that the worse thing anyone can do is nothing, that we all have an impact on each other even if we never see the full extent of the ripple effect....
