Obesity and Solutions

Obesity has become a very common thing in America. The number of obese people in America has greatly increased over the years. The most common measure of obesity is known as body mass index, which is calculated as a ratio of your weight to your height. The terms fat, obese, and obesity may all seem to have to same meaning, however they are different. A little excess weight put onto one’s body my consider them fat, but when a person’s weight comes to a point in which health problems begin to develop, this is when they are said to be obese. If a person then continues to gain weight then there condition would fit the obesity description or morbid. Morbid or otherwise known as clinically severe obesity is defined as being one-hundred pounds or more overweight or when the risk of a obesity related health conditions occurs. Obesity the second leading cause of preventable deaths in America, behind cigarettes as number one. Classified as a disease, obesity can leads to many serious, life threatening conditions. Some of those being: High blood pressure, Diabetes, Asthma, Heart Attack, and Arthritis. In fact, there has never been a disease studied that didn’t have a worse effect on obese people. Obesity has become a serious problem, not just in America but across the world. Some consider it a mental problem, others a physical, but none the less it is a problem in general. There are several methods that are said to help achieve a healthier body. However before a solution can be identified, the problem has to be fully comprehensible.

Certainly everyone considered to be overweight cannot be spoken for, but there may be a legitimate reason for their condition. Obesity is not just a condition resulting from lack of exercise or poor meal choice; it is considered an illness to many. There are many reasons why a person may be gaining weight.
