First Solar was created by the Walton family in 1999 and first production was launched in 2002. The company is very proud to be able to reduce the cost of manufacturing a watt of solar power below $1 per watt by 2008 and expects to reduce the cost even more to 50¢ per watt by 2014.

First Solar manufactures and sells the solar modules giving it a competitive advantage over the competition. Furthermore, this helps the company diversify and expand operations globally.
