Incest

Introduction

Incest refers to any sexual activity between closely related persons (often within the immediate family) that is illegal or socially taboo. Incest among the black people is on the rise. In the past it has always been regarded as a taboo for people to talk openly about incest, somehow this has been contributing to the rise in figures. It is very difficult to define a family in the African context as included in the African definition of a family is grand parents, uncles, aunts, cousins who sometimes in most cases share the same house or the kraal ( kgotla) It can be argued that because people are not reporting incidents of incest does not mean that they do not exist among African people.

Incest is an ancient offence that dates back to the bible days where several scriptures I the old testament offenders have bee noted like: Lot after escaping Sodom and Gomora destruction found himself and daughters all on their own, they had no husbands and children. The daughters planned to make their father drunk and when he is off they would then forced themselves on him one by one . The plan was well executed and the ladies got their father to impregnate them. What is not clear or could be understood is whether the father was well aware during the activity because according to science a ma cannot engage in any sexual activity whether drunk or sober against his wish. The fact that the ladies decided to get their father drunk first and not approach him shows that their concise convicts them or that they knew he will have not agreed to the request under normal circumstances when sober.

There has always been rumours and myths flying around the black people that whites have it as their culture that the mother teaches her sons sex by giving him first experience on her whilst the father does the same with his daughters.
