Hello World: My Early Life

On October 3, 1990 at 7: 45 pm a little baby girl with dark brown hair and blue eyes was born into this world. It was a time of joy, stress, and pain for my mother. Recalling the special event, my mother says, “ Dr. Antoon left to get a hamburger and almost didn’t make it back in time to deliver! You came quicker than imagined.” Weighing seven pounds five ounces and nineteen inches, I was a healthy baby even arriving two weeks early; however, according to the Apgar scale I needed a little special attention. As my mother held her first girl, but second child in her arms, she noticed I was blue with hardly any reflex response. Right away I was rushed to a larger hospital nearby. With little treatment, I was okay. My distinguishing characteristics included, long fingers and toes and a face that looked just like my older brother, Hunter.

Throughout my mother’s pregnancy, my mother was prepared and relaxed for her second child. As young parents, Eric and Christy did not have everything together financially or emotionally, but they also had two years experience prior with my older brother. I was not planned, but my parents were definitely excited in July 31, 1990 when my first ultrasound was performed and I was a baby girl. There were no complications with my mother’s pregnancy-not even morning sickness!

After one month of being welcomed into this world by an array of friends and family, I weighted nine pounds nine ounces and 21 inches. I drank four ounces of formula every three hours, stayed awake most of the morning, waking up at 2:30 am for feeding and 6: 30 am. Like most babies, I loved to be held and cuddled. My older brother Hunter was surprisingly content with my arrival always wanting to help out. His nickname for myself when I was a baby was “Tator.”

The next month, I started eating cereal at night and sleeping till about 4:30 am only to take a bottle and fall right back asleep. At two months old I was able to coo, smile,...
