Writer’s Checklist for Writing a Narrative

1. Is my title and introduction enticing? Yes, it’s short but straight to the point.

2. Is my thesis effective? Yes, it gives my opinions as well a fact about the subject.

3. Have I included enough details so the reader can visualize my experience? The essay gives a lot of different views and situations that will give the reader a good visual.

4. Are the events presented in a logical sequence? The essay starts from getting ready to going scuba diving.

5. Have I used transitions to help the sequence of events flow smoothly? I finished every paragraph with the beginning of the next.

6. Have I used dialogue (if appropriate)? Did not need it.

7. Have I used a consistent point of view and verb tense? Yes, I tried to put everyone in the place of how and what is going on.

8. Is the point of my narrative evident? Yes, I used third person the entire essay.

9. Have I ended the story satisfactorily? Yes, the conclusion is evident.

10. Have I proofread thoroughly? Yes, I have proofread a few times to exclude all errors.

Scuba Diving

Scuba diving has been around for centuries. Before the air tanks and hoses that are used today, other means of equipment were used. In the early 1300’s, Persians, the first to attempt the act, used some very unique tools to explore the depths of water. The Persians used chiseled down shells from tortoises, to make eye goggles (Bellis). That is a huge difference from the equipment used today. Regardless of where or what types of equipment is used, diving can be a fun and enjoyable hobby, as well a good paying occupation

. First, the decision has to be made on how serious someone wants to dive. Choose whether it is going to be just a weekend getaway dive at a resort, or a full out personal expedition alone.
