Make up, hair extensions, clouds of hair spray, fake teeth, sophisticated costumes, crazy moms, and tiaras. These are the things that most little girls have to encounter in the pageant world. I feel that pageants for kids should be banned because it does nothing really to help these girls. Their parents force them to be in pageants when they just need to be regular kids. With them dressing older having to act older then what they are is just ridiculous. With these television shows like Toddlers and Tiaras you can see that most of these girls don’t want to do this and their parents are forcing them into it. I think kids shouldn’t do pageants because they’re so young and they should be able to grow up as just a regular kid doing kid things. Also, I think it should be banned because it draws too much negative attention from older men.

Brooke Breedwell, now 22, a former child pageant star since the age of 3 says she hated every bit of it. She was pressured by her mom to be perfect. She just wanted to be a regular kid that goes outside and play with other kids. She said every single day her mom made her practice and afterwards she cried herself to sleep every night because she hated her life. She’s now speaking out against pageant circuit and warning parents not put their child through what she endured. Most parents start their children out in pageants at 18 months. These kids are just babies and they’re being forced to do something they don’t want to do or ready to do. They are led to believe that appearance is everything. Parents say that their child are going to gain confidence through performing. They also say their children will mature faster than normal kids do. I think what world these parents live in to think like this. They aren’t helping their kids at all.
