The Post , Master Unique Bond Between Ratan and Postmaster

I think that they are both lonely. On this simple level it is a touching story. Both Ratan and the Postmaster have nobody in their lives. Both share moments to gather that fill their heart. The Postmaster teaches Ratan to read and Rattan fills his bath and other odd jobs. They tell each other recollections of their past. In an ideal world we might have the Postmaster adopting Rattan but the world is less than ideal. For reasons that we can only speculate Ratan can't take the child with him yet their remains a connection between both. It is a connection of longing more than anything else. Really it is a connection between a lonely old man and a lonely orphaned girl; two people who need each other bur can't be together.

Ratan though addressed the postmaster as 'dadababu',in reality,there existed just the basic relation of a domestic help and master between the two.The postmaster would converse with the young orphan like his daughter but actually he did so just to spend his long evenings in some fruitful way in the village of Ulapur where he did not have his family nor his companions. It is best if the relation between the two is not titled there never was a true relationship between the postmaster and the young Ratan

The postmaster gave ratan a purpose and routine in her life ,he gave her work .After he started teaching her she became closer to him ,he became her only relative and the only person she interacted with she felt she was a part of his family and took for granted that he would always be there for her.

Ratan was initially just a domestic help for  the post master and later a student whom he started teaching to pass time .He had nothing much to do and missed his family she became a companion to him .When the postmaster was sick she became his nurse and mother too.

In the end though it all vanished and Ratan was left in misery it was all one sided.The...
