INTRODUCTION

This research focuses on the security awareness of information systems in WWF HK.

Due to the increased number of security breaches inside WWF HK recently, it is found to be necessary for conducting an information security awareness program in order to strengthen staff’s alertness towards the Do’s and Don’ts actions regarding the information system.

The importance of this program cannot be underestimated. It has already been pointed out in literatures that the human factor is the weakest link when it comes to effective security practice. In addition suffering from hacker attacks is not rare in WWF HK. The most recent security breach needs only date back to half a year ago, when there is a collective virus infection for the WWF HK computer system.

The ultimate goal is of course, to have a team of staff with adequate security awareness. While it is understandable that security awareness cannot be built by only one start-up program, readers may treat this program as an introduction which supplies the basic background knowledge towards achieving adequate security awareness. And it is suggested that readers shall continue receiving relevant trainings time by time for the purpose of developing effective information security awareness.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

Situation in WWF HK in terms of security sense will be assessed in the first hand, in light to provide readers with the reasons for conducting this research. Situations in the US and China will be followed then. For the last part, recommendations will be suggested. And a simplified continual monitoring system will then be presented to readers.
