It is said that, “One should always expect the unexpected.” My sophomore year, I registered for an Ethics course, which I thought would have been very interesting. I imagined the classroom being full of debates of different controversial issues society is dealing with in present times. Prior to registration, I asked several people who had completed the course for their opinion of whether they believe that it was a course worth taking. I received many positive feedbacks, I went ahead and enrolled. To my luck, there was only one section of Ethics open for enrollment, and the instructor recommended was the one teaching it. Truthfully, I did not need the class to satisfy my major, being that I am a psychology major; I took the course because I plan on attending law school after completing my undergraduate studies, and I thought it would help me to think more critically. I also like a challenge. In the past, I had struggled with Intro to Philosophy; I thought that taking another Philosophy course would challenge me. This Ethics course was not taught the way I thought it should have been taught, and through the semester, not only did the instructor teach the class, but the students taught the instructor.

As I walked into the class on the first day of school, the instructor smiled and gave us a warm greeting. Considering that it was the first day of class, everyone was excited and eager to see what the class would be about. He took roll attempting to familiarize himself with names and faces of his new students. Unlike a typical first day of class, everything caught the students by surprise. First, it was a man teaching the class who definitely was not the instructor listed online when I enrolled for the course.
