iPhone vs. Android; a fruit vs. the green robot dude. The age-old question, which phone is better? As an Android owner I think I’m entitled to say that that Android prevails but if you are an iPhone user I’m sure you think otherwise. So far just this year, 53% of all Smartphones sold in Australia were Android with only 33% being iPhones. Other companies have emerged, especially Samsung and realised what iPhone users were missing out on and incorporated that into their products. An Android’s durability, cost, customisation, range, battery and applications set it far in front of the Apple iPhone.

Android phones range anywhere from 100 to 300 dollars where as an iPhone ranges from 200 to 600 dollars. That being said, people assume the more something costs the longer its durability. This is in fact not the case.

I have never met an iPhone owner who didn’t have their screen smashed in some way. Android phones are far more durable. I’ve dropped my Android on every surface possible and there has not been a single scratch or crack left behind, where as if you breathe on an iPhone it would probably disintegrate in your hands. Replacing the screen on an iPhone can often cost more than the iPhone itself. iPhones are built to break to then be replaced.

There is a wider range of Android phones as they are made by a variety of manufactures. They come in many different colours, sizes or have distinct features. You may choose a phone with a built in keyboard or a phone with higher quality speakers for music. iPhones on the other hand are all the same. There is only one model with only the choice of black or white. How exciting.

In the app department, the Android Market or the Google Play Store as it is now called has as many apps as Apple’s App Store. The major advantage Google Play has over Apple is their price in apps.
