What does JetBlue need to do to keep its success going as it expands its fleet and routes?\

To keep its success when expanding its fleet and routes, JetBlue should focus on both internal management and external situations. All of the following issues are related to the sucessful expansion of JetBlue.

From the internal organization management view, JetBlue should take measures to maintain and enhance its competitive advantage when expanding. The most important idea “to bring humanity back into air travel” must be expressed in every individual in JetBlue. As mentioned in the last part of the case, one future challenge for JetBlue in the future is that there would be 5000 new employees by 2004.This requires the human resources department of JetBlue to make extra efforts when training new employees and make sure they are qualified. The most important thing is let the new employees understand and believe in the JetBlue core values, “safety, caring, integrity, fun and passion.” Therefore all qualified employees can continue to provide high quality service to customers and also make JetBlue a “union free” organization.

With the strong believe in values and skilled worker, JetBlue also needs to develop its operation strategy. For example, keep researching new technology for both the airport and flight to improve service. Also, be sensitive to the latest technology and applied them on the plane for service. By the end of the case Wi-Fi was still not popular on the plane; JetBlue should pay attention on such kind of technologies and applied them on flight.

Funding is another important factor for JetBlue when expanding. Going public is a good way to get capital support. On the other hand, reducing the cost can also saves money for JetBlue to make further expansion. JetBlue should continue to purchase A320, not only because it is cheaper and burns less fuel but also reduces the training and operation cost for workers since they only have to worry about this kind...
