Breast cancer is a cancer that originates from breast tissue. This cancer is in both humans and mammals, while most breast cancer cases are women, men may also develop the breast cancer. The first noticeable sign of the cancer may be a lump that is different from other breast tissue. 80% of breast cancer cases have been discovered after detecting a lump. Most lumps are not known to be cancerous but one should not hesitate to get it test out (Moss 3-17). Lumps within the lymph nodes under the armpits may also indicate breast cancer. There are also other indications other than lumps, such as one breast being larger or lower, a nipple that may change shape of positioning. If you are feeling any pain this may also be a sign or indication that breast cancer may be present, but it may also let you know that you may have other breast issues. The risk factors that may lead to one getting breast cancer are race, age, lack of breastfeeding, higher hormone levels, race, economic status and dietary iodine deficiency. Other factors that will lead to breast cancer is smoking tobacco. A study done in 1995 discussed that 29.5% of women that there first birth were at a later age or who did not have children were at higher risk of getting the disease. Were 18.9% of the individuals who had higher income were next to get the disease, and 9.1% of cancer related cases were because of family history. Other risks may include high-fat diet, alcohol intake, obesity, and environmental factors such as tobacco use, and radiation. Ladies should also be aware that when they go for a mammography they are subjected to low doses of radiation. This cumulative effect can cause cancer.

Because there are so many risk factors that can lead to one getting breast cancer lets discuss the ways that can prevent one from getting it. Individuals that exercise may decrease the risk of getting the disease. Also individuals should try to avoid drinking alcohol and eating food that may lead to obesity. If...
