The Do’s and Don’ts of the Job Interview

The author of the Job interview, Dawn Rosenberg McKay explains information on the dos and don’ts of the interviewing process and give examples. The author explains the types of job interviews, preparing for the interview, how to succeed and the tricky questions/following up.

The author explains that there may be many different types of job interviews and how each one works. Screening interview, selection, group, panel and the stress interview are the common types. The author gives advice on each interviewing process and the don’ts of each interview. According to Dawn Rosenberg, being prepared for your interview will help tremendously. Research the employer, learn about yourself before attending and practice questions related to subjects a potential employer might ask. There are many ways to succeed in the interview process. Knowing what to wear and what is appropriate for the job you’re applying for. Dressing up to much might not fit the company you’re applying for and the same goes for casual dress. So dress appropriately for the line of work that you’re applying for. Grooming is just as important as dress. When going into an interview make sure your hair is stylish, fingernails should be cut to appropriate length and avoid cologne/perfume. Body language is another big factor because the interviewer can distinguish how comfortable you are in the situation. Making eye contact as well will help in the job interview. Tricky questions may also be asked so you should know your rights before going into the job interview. Answering questions given to money should be a given range amount so you don’t put yourself to low or high. After the interview process is over with, send who interviewed you a thank you note as a follow up. This will be a benefit to you because not everyone will send one.
