Iloilo River

    The Iloilo River is the longest river located in the Province of Iloilo, Philippines. It passes through the city of Iloilo. The sources of its freshwater supply are northern tributaries and agricultural run-off. It passes through the city of Iloilo and flows from west to east, with an estimated specific sediment discharge rate of 8.0 cubic meters per year per square kilometer, and a catchment area of 93.1 square kilometer.

Iron

    Iron is a metallic chemical element. Iron is the most used and cheapest metal, the second most abundant metal and fourth most abundant element in Earth's crust. It occurs rarely as a free metal, occasionally in natural alloys, and in hundreds of minerals and ores, including hematite, magnetite, limonite, and siderite. The human body contains about one-sixth of an ounce (4.5 g) of iron, mostly in hemoglobin and its precursors. Iron in the diet is essential to health.

    The main naturally occurring iron minerals are magnetite, hematite, goethite and siderite. Weathering processes release the element into waters. Both mineral water and drinking water contain iron carbonate. In deep sea areas the water often contains iron fragments the size of a fist, manganese and small amounts of lime, silicon dioxide and organic compounds.

    

    Men require approximately 7 mg iron on a daily basis, whereas women require 11 mg. Iron is a central component of hemoglobin. It binds oxygen and transports it from lungs to other body parts. It then transports CO2 back to the lungs, where it can be breathed out.

    When high concentrations of iron are absorbed, iron is stored in the pancreas, the liver, the spleen and the heart. This may damage these vital organs.
