1. Briefly describe the city of Corinth in the 1st century. (Step by Step: p. 156)

Corinth one the most prosperous city in Greece, with a population of seven hundred thousand. It was located on an isthmus that linked northern Greece with the Peloponnesian Peninsula. It was an immoral city in which vistors came for illicit pleasure. Corinth had a massive plateau known as the acrocorinth it rose nearly 2000 feet from the surrounding plain.

2. Identify the theme of I Corinthians and the three major doctrines developed in the epistle. (Step by Step: p. 156)

The theme of 1 corinthians was A Gift and Worldly Church. The three doctrins developed in the epistle was crucifixion, resurrection, and holy spirit.

3. List three reasons for the factions occurring in the Corinthian church. (Step by Step: p. 157)

Three reasons for factions occurring in the corinith church was a misunderstanding of the Christian message, a false concept of the ministry, and puffed up with human pride.

4. Summarize Paul's teaching on the Resurrection of Christ from I Corinthians 15. (Step by Step: p. 160)

Paul described the resurrection as a pattern of our own future resurrection. He discussed the resurrection of of believers, individual behavior, the nature of the resurrection body and he outlined the future victory of of Christians. He presented it with such force that they provide us an incentive to labor always for God.

5. Summarize Paul's teaching about the tension between "freedom and license." (Zondervan: p. 699)

Paul states that the body is not important, he says the Christian body cannot be separted off from the whole personality. He also says you cannot sin with the body and keep the real person untarnished every individual is a unity. He ends by sayining Christians must honour God in the way they use their own body.
