1. Economic Consideration

a. As of 2012 the labor force size is estimated to be at 17.89 million people. This is actually down from 2010 which was 18.64 million. This is a little more than half the population which it seems that 49.8% is unemployed. But it looks like that employment is starting to climb slowly.

b. South Africa has experienced a solid upward growth over the past year. Employment growth has continuous grown for six consecutive quarters since 2011. The employment levels seem to indicate that women and youth continue to make up the lower end of the levels while men dominate to and make the levels rise.

c. The minimum wages in South Africa compared to the United States are jaw dropping. South Africa has no minimum wage where as we have $7.25. I guess the $7.25 does not sound bad now that you look at a different side of the world. The wages can range from R1,067 a month to R1,167 a month for a domestic worker. So a months wage in South Africa is US dollars range is $108.89 to $119.09. Salary levels in South Africa are minimum 1,980 ZAR($202.03 USD); median 20,000 ZAR($2,041 USD); average 27,243 ZAR($2,780.15 USD) and maximum 312,000 ZAR(31,839.60 USD)

d. Employee provided benefits include lunch breaks, if they work continuously for more than 5 hours they earn a meal break of at least an hour. Every employee is entitled to at least 21 consecutive (not working) days' annual leave in every 12-month leave cycle or one day of annual leave for every 17 days during which the employee worked or was entitled to be paid or one hour of annual leave for every 17 hours during which the employee worked or was entitled to be paid and annual leave must be granted within six months of the end of a preceding annual leave cycle. They have sick leave in case of an illness, maternity and paternity rights even parental rights.
