The movie ‘Babae sa Septic Tank’ is an indie film that revolves on three indie film makers namely Producer Bingbong by JM De Guzman, Director Rainier by Kean Cipriano, and Production Assistant Jocelyn, by Cai Cortez. They are trying to make a film called ‘Walang wala.’ They were having problems about funding this own movie. This movie revolves on a woman named Mila who is trying to support her 7 children; they live in a squatters’ area in Payatas. She fails to be able to do so, so she sells her son to a pedophile. They based the movie on the documentary they shot in Payatas. They made it seem like it was a real life story. They met one of their friends who kept bragging about how he was such a good filmmaker and the achievements he has made. He did not like the plot that Director Rainier has told him. The movie shows variations of this scene, since they were trying to cast a Mila for their film; their choices were Cherry Pie Pecache, Eugene Domingo, and Mercedes Cabral. They finally ended up choosing Eugene Domingo; to their surprise, she accepted the role as Mila since she said she never gets projects as good as ‘Walang wala’. She had many requests that the filmmakers had a hard time agreeing to, but they did. She was ecstatic about this role, she even mentions that she is willing to do anything except one scene in the movie, which is swimming in the Septic Tank. They checked out Payatas, the setting of the entire movie, and they were really happy that it fit their expectations. However, this visit to Payatas ended badly because their car got mugged and all their equipment got stolen. which In the end, she fell in the Septic Tank, and did not have a choice but to push through with the scene.
