Working with businesses can sometimes be complex, whether the business is local, national, or international. Developing and agreeing upon a contract between business to business is a sure way to make sure all expectations are met and that both businesses have guidelines and rules to follow. A business contract is a legally binding agreement between two parties, or businesses, for an exchange of services that are of value (Rath, 2013). For the validity of a contract, an offer must be made, accepted, and both parties agree upon the contingencies of the contract. In the business contract situation of Don Willets and the Christian business owner, one can see the legal and spiritual ramifications that can arise from the potential breach of contract.

From the legal perspective of the situation, there are several issues to be considered and evaluated. The Christian owner selling the Scuppernong grapes to Don could potentially stop doing business with him or charge interest to him, for the fact that he is never on time with his payments. Regardless of what the invoices to Don say about payments being made in a timely manner and by the due date, he is continuously fifteen to thirty days behind on each payment. Even though a contract was signed about payments being made on time, the Christian business owner could still use his tardiness against him, since the invoice has the due date written.

Don could claim a breach of contract against the company selling him the Scuppernong grapes, if that company does decide to stop doing business with him and pursue greater success with another company that is much bigger and more promising of future success. Under the breach of contract, Don could claim promissory estoppel.
