Priority objectives of production manager

The priority objectives of the production manager will depend on the customer requirements about this industry, which means that the objectives will be prioritized according to the level of importance that each one of the 5 five factors imply for the customers.

First of all it is crucial to mention that the performance objectives have to be specific, measurable, realistic and attainable for the company so that they can be successfully implemented.

According to the issues mentioned in the case, it is clearly visible that the company has no strategic direction, which is the reason why goals and job descriptions are not clear, which is preventing the company from increasing their profit levels.

From the production’s function perspective, the performance objectives should be prioritize in the following way:

1- Cost: it is crucial to emphasize on low costs due to the fact that such industry requires a continuous product development, meaning that investment in innovative designs has to be prioritized so that compliance with technological advancements may take place. Therefore by consistently focusing on efficient production system, the company will be able to comply with technological demands and still make a reasonable profit.

2- Speed: due to the fact that the marketing department has been putting some pressure on the production department, it is required to ensure that fast delivery of the products take place, so that it can be available at the right place and time when it is required by the customers. Therefore speed in operations is required.

3- Quality: such factor has to be combined with low cost and speed, because for a company’s operation to be successful in any industry outputs have to be produced at the lowest possible cost, and be available to the customer at the right time with highest possible quality.
