Memory is a very important topic and a big part of Psychology today. I always would want to know about Memory and how is memory works in human’s brain in general. Since the memory has been used in many technologies in our society and in the world, in my opinion memory is playing a big role in the world in terms of technology and it all based on the human’s psychology. What I know about memory basic information, for instance: (STM) Short Term Memory, and (LTM) Long Term Memory. I want to know more and more about that particular area of Psychology, because with out memory life would be impossible. There is a lot to know about memory.

What is memory? Memory refers to the processes that are used to acquire, store, retain and later retrieve information. So basically what the brain does is that get the information, store it, and then retrieve it. The first step is getting the information which Encoding. Encoding is the process of taking sensory information and converting into usable, comprehendible information. In order to store the information, there is another step of process, it must make sense. It is very hard to remember random information. So the brain develops ways to organize the information so that it is ready to be stored. Same with computers system, human have to put the information in the computer language so the computer can read and then store it. There are different ways of encoding. Some people use rehearsal or the repetition for encoding and some people use the different type of encoding: Mnemonics, Imagery, and Chunking.

The second part of the processing of the memory is Storage. Storage is The retention of the information we encode.

There are two types of memory, long term memory and short term memory. In order to store that information in the memory, it should go somewhere between the short term memory and long term memory.
