Write a 100- to 200-word response to each of the following questions. Provide citations for all the sources you use.

* What is discrimination? How is discrimination different from prejudice and stereotyping?

* Discrimination is when an individual act or treat others unequally, which is based upon prejudice and stereotypes.Discrimination is different from stereotype because stereotype is normally formed against a group (sometimes there may be some positive stereotypes) and prejudice is a negative judgement or view about someone without having proof. More like a prejudged conception of an individual. So all three are related but discrimination is formed from prejudice and stereotyping.

* What are the causes of discrimination? There are several reasons for discrimination but mainly ignorance is the reason. Some individuals grow up in an environment that allowed them to view discrimination, the area that you live in what you have hear growing up may cause you to form opinions of others. Sometimes people discriminate not realizing that they are for example, I notice that most Caucasians rather not touch African Americans. I try to make sure that I respect others so I tend to overlook it. Being denied for a promotion because you are a black female, so there is discrimination in the workplace as well.

* How is discrimination faced by one identity group (race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disability) the same as discrimination faced by another? How are they different?

* All forms of discrimination is the same. Most individuals that discriminate tend to go along with the majority not have a reason to discriminate in the first place.
