Gun Control

In recent times, the topic of gun control has emerged as a significant opportunity for the country to make a decision for the better. Proponents of gun control argue that if stricter gun control laws are enforced there will be a reduction in gun violence and crime. The anti-gun control group who argue that it is the constitutional right of every American to have the right to bear arms for protection and for hunting sports counters this. They feel that enforcing gun controls on people, is wrongfully penalizing innocent people for trying to protect themselves and violating their constitutional right as law abiding Americans (Doeden). I believe that it is unwise to enforce strict gun control laws, as way of dealing with crime and violence because guns are necessary for self-defense against crime and criminals and I believe having strict gun laws, or prohibiting them would not solve the problem.

Guns have the consideration of being evil by a section of society because of the violence and mayhem that they bring. People as the weapons of murder express themselves through guns and the general assertion by them is that there is a direct link between the number of guns in society with the number of incidents of violence and murder. Studies have proven that handguns are the most common weapons when it comes to homicides in the United States of America (Gerdes). Therefore, proponents of gun controls believe that there has been a reliance on guns by society to perpetrate crime and harm and it is only sensible to bring tighter gun controls are outlawing them for good. However, this thinking is very narrow-minded as citizens who are law abiding have a constitutional right to defend themselves against criminals or any aggression that may threaten their lives or property.
