Responsibility and Accountability

This morning I provided an essay in regards to Responsibility and Accountability which are in many ways are very similar, due to the recent situation of me being late not only for work but for duty section turnover as well.. This is an situation that hunts me and seems to throw salt in my outstanding work ability, so Let me start off by defining the two; Responsibility is the state or fact of being responsible, answerable, or accountable for something within one's power,control, or management. Accountability is the state of being accountable, liable, or answerable. Me as a Second Class Petty Officer I need to be more responsible as sailor in as little as showing up to work on time, especially with me being in a leadership position with my division looking to me for answers for any situations that may arise. We all understand that things happen and thats just the nature of life, but as we progress through the ranks and take on new roles occurrences like such should become little to none. I cannot expect someone to do certain things if i cant get them right, so I must strive for excellence in all categories of my career, not just for my passion to be the best QuarterMaster. I realize that it is important for every sailor to be responsible for their actions. Every thought that becomes an action effects other individuals around me, in either a positive or negative way. As a Leader I need to be responsible for myself before I can be responsible for others. If Im given a responsibility,Im expected by my Chain of Command to excel. If I fail to do so, then there's a possibility I could lose my respect as well as trust within my division as a person. A leader takes charge and takes accountability for all those who fall under his or her leadership. My Professional reputation results from personal accountability.
