Curriculum Guide for Reading, Writing, Spelling, and Mathematics

In this school year and units of study with will continue to focus on the academic areas of study with keeping in mind that our students will need age appropriate activities and materials that will be functioning for elementary students, but keeping in mind of their chronological and at the same time being respectful of their dignity that they may not do everything a child their age does, but to be understanding of their needs and to enjoy school as others do. also note that lesson for children with Intellectual Disability will be modified according to the school district law and procedure according to the students IEP

Mathematics:

Adding, subtracting, multiplication, and division;

Adding:

Students will be taught how to bring two or more things, numbers and objects together to get and answer such as 1+1=2

Materials: will be objects that are age appropriate for the student, the student will work in small groups with other children in the classroom with special education intervention teacher as well as the lead teacher in the classroom. The student will also work on number recognition to be able to succeed in this area.

Subtracting:

Students will be taught how to bring two or more things, numbers and objects together to get and answer such as 2-1=1

Materials: will be objects that are age appropriate for the student, the student will work in small groups with other children in the classroom with special education intervention teacher as well as the lead teacher in the classroom. The student will also work on number recognition to be able to succeed in this area also by showing the numbers on the calendar, a clock, classroom door...
