Implication of the mobile phones in the modern society is becoming clearer and with the influences these gadgets have had on social networks, mobile computing just became better and has gained even more attention from software and hardware developers and vendors. Innovations in this field have seen the rise of modern devices with operating systems such as iPhone and Android, where third party developers have created thousands of applications which run on these gadgets. However, the real drivers are not the software and hardware manufactures rather the users who interact and are all the time connected on social networks and using the devices. Therefore, it can be assumed that the hope and future of these gadgets and where they are utilized will determine future innovations that surround proliferation of the mobile services. This paper will discuss the efficiency and effectiveness of mobile-based apps in capturing consumer data based on studies of the State Farm Insurance, the Mitek Company and Lufthansa airline. In addition, benefits offered by these mobile applications pertaining to ease of access to consumer’s data will be discussed. Moreover, this paper discusses the challenges of designing and developing apps which run on these devices as a result of small screen size and techniques for solving the challenges.

Assessing the effectiveness and efficiency mobile-based applications provide to capture geo-location data and customer data, and quickly upload to a processing server without users having to use a desktop system.
