Smith and Falmouth is an organization that is experiencing change. This change is within the organizational strategy and its culture. The company expects a quick effective change because of the market and the significance of the change within the organization. In this paper I will explore a restructuring of Smith and Falmouth. This paper will also describe established methods of control and the current departmental and organizational cultures, recommend a restructuring strategy that would improve the culture and empower employees, describe management practices that would be most effective. This paper will also address and explain how the new size and structure could affect the organization, individuals, groups, teams, and the organization’s future. The new cross functional team will be comprised of web development, logistics manager, and marketing manager for logistics and marketing with the parent company (University of Phoenix, 2010).

Restructuring Department to Improve Culture and Empower Employees

There is some resistance toward the Chief Operating Officer. Employees are not respecting the Chief Operating Officer and are forming their own groups. According to Robbins and Judge 2007), the attitude of an employee reflects job performance. To create a pleasant environment within the organization, employees will receive attitude surveys and will have input on some changes. The morale is low among the employees. Transformational leadership is a way to build trust and rely on the talents of the employees. With the transformational leadership style, employees must be rewarded and praise to increase performance. Morale is essential within any organization.
