* What are three things you learned about plagiarism, and how will you use that knowledge? How will you ensure that you use proper citations in your work? What strategies will you implement?

I learned several things regarding plagiarism that I was unaware of. The first was changing a few words around from a book or article and pretending those words are your own. Next was rearranging the order of ideas in a list and making the reader think you produced the list. Finally I learned using information from an interview or an online chat or email, etc., without properly citing the source of the information. Normally, when one thinks of plagiarism, one thinks of quoting or stating a source verbatim, and not giving the proper credit or citation. I was unaware that plagiarism could go as far as not citing an email or online chat. When you think about it, it makes perfect sense, I just want not aware that all of these things were actually considered plagiarism. I will ensure the use of proper citations in my by making sure I cite the reference immediately after I use it, instead of waiting until all work is complete on the assignment. I will make sure that I write my portion first, to ensure I am not utilizing the ideas of the article that I am referencing.

Academic integrity is important because if students are not practing this, then there will always be students who an advantage over other students.
