Job Analysis of a Merger

The recent merger of InterClean and EnviroTech has created new positions. InterClean needs to review all services, departments and personnel to see if there is a need for restructuring. One issue to address is that InterClean's product focus will be providing full service cleaning for the health care industry and selling of cleaning products will no longer be offered. InterClean’s employees will be given a reference sheet to help send customers to another company that can service the cleaning product needs. InterClean conducted a job analysis to demonstrate what goals needed to be achieved and how the company was performing on the current level. The analysis can then be used to determine if the current staff can handle the appropriate workload.

Job Analysis

InterClean will have a new sales position; the job analysis will include job performance, an evaluation of structured questions and an interview. All candidates for the position will be screened to identify strengths and weaknesses, which is part of the critical incidents method. Face-to-face interviewing is crucial to the hiring process due the observer (the interviewer) can identify how the interviewee handles the process whether acting nervous, hesitates when answering or answering questions inappropriately. InterClean will have a training session for the interviewers so they are prepared to know appropriate style and questions to ask. Critical incidents will help job dynamics and can be used on applications to show behavior. A disadvantage of this part of the method is that it is time consuming to gather the information and have it processed.

In order to complete, the job analysis a selection method process is used which helps weed out the candidates that are not qualified in the means of skills, education and work history.
