These were all very interesting cases with very different dilemmas. A woman dealing with sexism in the workplace is nothing new in society. The cases of the diamond ring and the super sales woman that won’t ask for a raise are great examples of this. Privacy is also a tricky topic when it comes to employees. The invasive coercion case is very different than the company going public with annual bonuses, yet in both cases employee’s privacy was threatened. There is no best option when it comes to the decision making process. All though all four scenarios are very different, they all have the same goal to find a resolution that benefits both parties in the end.

“The first scenario involves a woman who wants a job desperately and is worried that her marital status might adversely affect the interview. Decision—Should she or should she not wear her diamond engagement ring?” (Bien, 2014). There are two dillemas the women faces in this scenario. The first being the fact that the ring shows a certain social status, making it seem like she doesn’t really need the job. The other worry is the question of a woman’s commitment to the company when they are already committed at home. Both assumptions seem to be wrong in the case of this woman, but both assumptions can also be avoided if the ring is simply removed for the interview. Since there are no ill intentions by the woman by removing the ring for the interview, there shouldn’t be any negative consequences by her actions. If she is really in need of the position she should do what she has to do to get the job and address any possible mistreatment once she is part of the company. People do what they have to do when they need to provide, especially if they are married with a family. In the aviation industry it is mainly contracts or government positions that often require employees to deploy or relocate.
