Black And White by Paul Volponi is about 2 best friends who start off as the best Basketball players in their high school. They end up making a dumb decision, they get into robbing people for money, but one day they accidentally shoot someone. Later on the man who got shot identifies one of them and he gets arrested, however, he was not the one who shot the gun. He takes the blame but says he did not shoot the gun. He waits on his friend to confess his crime, but he never does. He finally realizes that his friend really isn’t his friend. He finally confesses and tells them it was his best friend who shot the gun. This book taught me to never trust too much and to not depend on anybody, no matter how long you have known them.

This book made me realize that you can never depend on anyone. It made me think more about the types of friends I have and the types that I should have. It also taught me that I should work hard for the things I want and never resort to do bad things even if it is easy money. If you do something dumb you should always take responsibility for your actions, because you know what you are doing and you were the one who decided to do it.

I learned that no matter how long you have known somebody you cannot really trust them. In the end your friends will only care about themselves, so you should worry about yourself too. Don’t ever take the blame for something you didn’t do, because if it was your friends in that position they wouldn’t take the blame for you. Actions count more than words and you will realize who your real friends are.

This book taught me a lot, many things I use up to this day. Books are very good things to read and can teach you many valuable lessons. It’s important to read every once in a while, it could even get really fun!
