I am identifying how interaction shapes our world, and how group memberships influence opportunity. These two questions actually have a lot in common. Which is what I’ll be discussing today.

“How does interaction shape our world?” This question clearly covers our society as a whole and how we see others, and how others see us. Perception is key to answer this question. Max Weber: Political Writing(1994) he wrote “ Statements of fact are one thing, statements of value another, and any confusing the two is impossible.” Interaction shapes out world because of macro sociology and micro sociology ; Macro sociology focuses on society as a whole, and micro sociology is all about perception of small groups. The interaction of the entire world is covered by macro sociology and micro sociology.

Group membership influences opportunity in many way. There are many different groups you can be affiliated with in the world, such as race and gender. By being in a group it can reflect in a positive or negative way. W.E.B Du Bois(1903) explained the “color line” race was the main objective in his research. In that instance he proved that race had a negative influence on African American’s opportunities.

Interaction is defined as being a reciprocal action, given or felt by each toward the other. In order to be in a group you must interact with one another. Interaction and group memberships go hand in hand in this instance. They both shape our world and they both influence our opportunities. Without interaction to shape our world, there would be no group memberships to influence our opportunities.
