Purpose and Scope of Study

The evaluation of the information systems is the purpose and scope of this study. There is a need to evaluate the problems within the environment and to determine if an ERP installation is possible. SAP and Oracle ERP are under consideration to consolidate all the business units. This will require additional investigation of each business unit to determine their needs. It appears on the surface that SAP and Oracle ERP should be able supportable and able to work with the existing data. Embracing eBusiness is the key for future growth.

Per Sumer, the benefit of this study is to assure that the ERP plans support the business needs and to provide an integrated solution. This will allow management and IT to work together to determine the direction of data use for the overall business, while allowing the continued autonomy of the decentralized structure. By offering guidance in choosing vendors for workstation-based solutions along with network and web-based solutions to problems as well as offering framework for using IT to gain a strategic improvement.

Document high-level business direction

High level business direction was determined by interviewing executive management. It was there was a lot to address as the Bandon Group currently services over 6,000 companies. During the interview process, ideas such as customer insight, value added marketing, integration of network services and strategic outsourcing would be needed in order to improve business direction and achieve success. It was also discovered during these interviews that there are needs to be addressed in three strategic areas. Those are sales, administration and customer service.
