Abstract

In this essay, the marketing mix is broken down to illustrate how the product, price, place, and promotion assisted the Apple Company in the sales of the iPhone. Each element of the marketing mix is defined and then explained as to how Apple used them to further the product’s success. The writer explains how the product is physically featured, how the price of the product is viable for the company and yet still reasonable for the customers, how the placement of the product helped increase gross sales, and how promotion of the product got the word out to the mass consumers.

These days there are so many new devices hitting the market that it only takes a couple months for a hot, new item to be outdated. Computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones are all in the ever changing environment of the technological market. In order for a company to succeed it must provide consumers with newer and better products that outperform the competition. And as new products are released, new marketing strategies have to be developed to attract new customers utilizing an innovative marketing mix. This mix consists of the product itself, the price of the product, the distribution of the product, and the promotion of the product. Each marketing element provides exposure to the consumer and initiates interest, ultimately leading to increased profits.

Apple has built a spectacular reputation with consumers because of how their marketing strategy depicts their products as the best of the best. The iPhone has become the world’s top selling smartphone and a staple in modern culture. You cannot walk down the street without seeing someone holding an iPhone in their hands. Apple has concocted a marketing plan that does not fail in any sense. The product, price, placement, and promotion of the iPhone have been designed to work so well together, you would think you’re looking at the mechanical insides of a watch where all the pieces move in unison....
